Mr. Mireles attended both the University of Texas at Austin and Sam Houston State University. He first got involved in community service by mentoring students with Communities in Schools. Through El Amistad Club, he is proud to have helped his first mentee obtain scholarship funding to attend college. Mr. Mireles also enjoys working with El Amistad Club members as well as his father, also a long time member.

Oscar Perez

Vice President of Fund Raising

Oscar Perez was born in Crystal City, Texas on December 7, 1944 to Juanita and Yndalecio Perez. Oscar’s family, like many families in Crystal City, was a migrant family that used to migrate during the summer months from Crystal City to the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, back to West Texas, and finally to Crystal City for the winter. The family made a living working in the Sugar beet fields of Minnesota, the tomato fields of Wisconsin, the cotton fields of west Texas and finally the Spinach and onion fields in Crystal City. During most of his elementary and junior high years, Oscar started the school year in Crystal City anywhere from 6 to 9 months into the school year. After graduating from Crystal City High School, Oscar attended Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde, Texas and earned an Associate of Arts Degree with a major in Mathematics.

Soon after his high school graduation, Oscar married his high school sweetheart Alicia Luna. Alicia and Oscar have four children: Cecilia Beissert, born in 1965 who is the Admissions Director at Paul Mitchell the School Austin in Austin, Texas, Oscar Perez Jr. born in 1967 who is a Technical Project Manager for Overwatch Systems in Austin, Texas, Laura Valdez born in 1968, who is the School Director/Owner at Paul Mitchell the School Austin, and Sergio Perez born in 1976, who is the IT Director at Paul Mitchell the School Austin. Oscar and Alicia have six grandchildren (4 boys and 2 girls) who they love and with whom they enjoy spending time with at every opportunity.
